Flucloxacillin IV 2g 6 hourly (4 hourly if endocarditis suspected) If true beta-lactam allergy or MRSA suspected then: Vancomycin IV (dosing info here) Course duration: 14 days IV or as advised by infection specialist. |

All patients require echo and investigation for possible underlying source. Replace intravascular device, if source of infection. Discuss management (including duration of therapy) with microbiology / infectious diseases unit. Repeat blood cultures after 48-96 hours of effective therapy. To aid appropriate management complete SAB sticker. |
